    Sentence Types Structures Examples
    Declarative Sentence

    (ประโยคบอกเล่า)

    is/am/are +verb + ing Jenny is living in Thailand.
    Negative Sentence

    (ประโยคปฏิเสธ)

    is/am/are not  +verb + ing I’m not living in Japan.
    Interrogative Sentence

    (ประโยคคำถาม)

    Is/am/are… + verb + ing? Are they living in Korea?

    Use the present continuous to talk about something which is happening at the time of speaking. (ใช้ present continuous ในการกล่าวถึงเหตุการณ์ที่กำลังเกิดขึ้น ขณะที่พูด)

    Examples:

    • Please don’t make so much noise. I’m studying.
    • ‘Where is Margaret?’ ‘She’s drinking ’
    • Let’s go out now. It isn’t raining any more.
    • Are you enjoying the party?
    • Use the present continuous when talking about something which is happening around the time of speaking, but not necessarily exactly at the time of speaking. (ใช้ present continuous เมื่อกล่าวถึงบางสิ่งที่กำลังเกิดขณะที่พูด แต่ไม่จำเป็นต้องระบุว่าเกิดขึ้นเวลาไหน)

    Examples:

    • Tom and John are talking and drinking in a café.
    • Sally is learning English now.
    • He is building his own house.

    Words like at the moment, presently, currently, now, this week/month/year are often used in the present continuous tense. (มักใช้คำเหล่านี้ใน present continuous คือ at the moment, presently, currently, now, this week/month/year)

    • Use the present continuous when talking about a period around the present. (ใช้ present continuous เมื่อกล่าวถึงช่วงเวลา ณ ปัจจุบัน)

    Examples:

    • ‘You’re working hard today.’ ‘Yes, I have a lot to do.’
    • Bill isn’t playing football this season. He wants to concentrate on his studies.
    • Use the present continuous when talking about changing situations. (ใช้ present continuous เมื่อกล่าวถึงสถานการณ์ที่กำลังเปลี่ยนแปลง)

    Examples:

    • The population of the world is increasing very fast.
    • Is your English improving?
    • Use the present continuous when talking about things that happen more often than expected, often to show envy or to criticize with words like always, constantly, continually, forever.

    (ใช้ present continuous เพื่อกล่าวถึงสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นบ่อยกว่าปกติ มักใช้แสดงความอิจฉา หรือเป็นการวิจารณ์ โดยใช้คำเหล่านี้ด้วย คือ always, constantly, continually, forever)

    Examples:

    • My mother’s always saying I am lazy! (criticize)
    • He’s always visiting exciting places! (envy)
    • She’s constantly eating expensive food. (envy)
